Peter A. Bjork

Peter A. Bjork

Peter was born in Phillips, Wisconsin on February 3, 1942, and is the senior member of the firm. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin in 1964, with a major in Political Science. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin School of Law, also with honors, two years later, in 1966.

Upon graduation, Peter practiced law in Wisconsin in a small general practice firm emphasizing litigation until the end of 1973, when he moved to Colorado. After working for a short while as a landman, to gain practical experience in the oil and gas industry, Peter was admitted to the Colorado Bar in February of 1974. He then joined a well known oil and gas law firm in Denver, where he practiced for eighteen years, until forming this firm in 1992.

Peter has handled a wide variety of matters including extensive oil and gas title work, but has specialized in litigation of natural resources and commercial matters. He has been lead counsel in numerous complex cases in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana and North Dakota, and has handled cases on both the trial and appellate levels. He is a member of the Bar of the States of Wisconsin, Colorado and Wyoming and is also admitted to practice in the Federal District Courts of those states and in the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the 9th and 10th Circuits.

During the Spring Semester of 1993, Peter, together with Laura Lindley, taught a natural resources law seminar as the Amax Distinguished Practitioners-in-Residence at the University of Denver College of Law. He has also been appointed as a Special Master in a case involving natural resource issues, and has recently served as an expert witness in a number of cases involving oil and gas and title issues.

In his free time, Peter is a devastatingly effective angler, an acclaimed woodworker, an avid golfer with a “unique” talent for the game, and a renowned raconteur.
